In defining the role that I have (the Outreach Worker to the EU Institutions from Holy Trinity Brussels at the Chapel for Europe), I have to dwell on my sending community, Holy Trinity Brussels. HTB is a chaplaincy in the Church of England, a part of the Diocese in Europe. In fact, it is one of the three seats (cathedrae) of the Bishop, Robert Innes, who has an office in Brussels.
HTB is a vibrant and diverse community, hosting four different services on a Sunday. While I am normally found at the 7pm service, which aims to reach and provide a spiritual home for young professionals in Brussels, you will be able to find me behind the church bar after the 10:30 service, the more traditional, family service in English. There is also a Book of Common Prayer service at 9am, as well as a 2pm French-English service, with a vibrant and lively musical style.
So, if you are looking for an English-speaking church community in Brussels, come and check us out at Rue Capitaine Crespel 29! We’re there on Sundays, as well as having the office open most days of the week in the morning. There is also a Tuesday night homegroup at 7pm at the church if you are looking for more informal community time.
